Writing Group Attendance
There are many interesting activities available to do where I live. Just recently, I joined a writing group. We're not big, just 7-8 members. We meet once a month and talk about the writing process. We show what we've written and solicit feedback from other members. The topics that other authors are writing about include para-normal romance, Nepal adventures, grief, poetry, writing children's books, and other areas. I'm writing curriculum which seems to be less glamorous than the other topics. Even so, every author needs an audience. We discussed ways to find our audience including blogging, hosting events, posting on Facebook, Twitter, or Pintrest. We talked about the value of YouTube, using a dictation method to jot down ideas on the go, and why we write. That is the million dollar question, why do we write? I'm not a great businesswoman so at this point in time, I'm not certain how I'll be able to turn a profit with my writing. Yet, I keep up the task. The writing group is an excellent resource. As the Bible verse suggests, "Iron sharpens iron, So one man sharpens another". The value of working with others to bounce ideas back and forth is incredible.
